Fix
Crime spot alerts only for spots on your route
A crime hotspot is announced only when it is ahead of you on the road your route takes. On a verified lower-risk road such as a freeway, a spot on an off-ramp you are not taking is no longer announced.

The CarPlay map shows more of the road ahead
The main CarPlay map sits as far out as the dashboard mini map, so it never shows less of the route ahead than the smaller map. It still zooms in as you reach a turn.
Fix
Easier to add a comment after a drive
Return on the keyboard now hides it so you can reach Submit. Tapping outside the card, or Skip, while you are typing hides the keyboard instead of closing the card.

Beaufort West is on the map
Beaufort West is now covered: the town and its suburbs, Donkin Street and the N1 through town with its fuel stops, the N12 and the roads out to Aberdeen and Loxton, and the Karoo National Park. Every area and main road has been rated against SAPS data and local news and checked a second time.

Mthatha is on the map
Mthatha and the King Sabata Dalindyebo area are now covered: the town and its suburbs and townships, the airport, Mqanduli and the villages, and the Wild Coast at Coffee Bay and Hole in the Wall, with the N2 and the R61 through town. Every area and main road has been rated against SAPS data and local news and checked a second time.

Port Alfred is on the map
Port Alfred and the Sunshine Coast are now covered: the town, Nemato, East Bank, Bathurst, Kenton-on-Sea, Bushmans River, Alexandria and the seaside villages from Cannon Rocks to Kleinemonde, with the R72 coast road, the R67 to Bathurst and the R343 to Salem. Every area and main road has been rated against SAPS data and local news and checked a second time.

Fix
The evening heads-up in the natural voice
"Heads up, evening is a higher-risk time" is fetched before it is needed, so it is said in the natural voice on a car connect or a drive that starts after dark, not the iPhone voice.

The CarPlay dashboard map appears sooner
The dashboard mini map shows as soon as it draws its first frame, while the rest of the imagery is still loading, instead of waiting for every tile. It also starts loading while the main map is up, so it is ready when you switch to the dashboard.

The rain reminder is said once
With CarPlay or Android Auto connected, "Rain ahead" is said once for the whole time the car is connected, not again when you start a route. On the phone alone it is said once a drive.

Feature
Rated stretches on the open road
The N1, N2, N3, N4 and N12 between the cities now carry rated stretches where there is evidence of crime against motorists: the N3 between the De Hoek and Wilge plazas (red after dark), the N1 past Hammanskraal, Bela-Bela, Ventersburg, Winburg, De Doorns and Musina, the N2 at the Mandeni toll and Kokstad, the N4 between Brits and Bapong, and the N12 at Britstown. Each stretch is rated on its own evidence and checked twice, and your route list names it with the time of day you will reach it. The rest of the open road stays unrated: that is not a safety rating either way.

CarPlay buttons stay hidden while you drive
The Search, Settings and End route buttons on CarPlay no longer pop up on their own every half a minute. Tap the map to show them, as before.

Traffic shows along your route
Moderate traffic now shows as a plum edge along your route line, as it does on every other road, instead of disappearing under the route.

The right colour and name at the end of a drive
Where one road becomes another under the same route number, such as Glenhove Road into Bolton Road on the M20, the route line and the road label no longer keep the previous road's colour for the last few hundred metres, and the label names the road you are on.

Road label fits the CarPlay dashboard
On the CarPlay dashboard, a long road name and its rating now stay inside the map tile instead of running off its edges.

George is on the map
George is now covered south of the Outeniqua mountains: the town centre and its suburbs, Blanco, Pacaltsdorp, Thembalethu, Conville and Rosedale, the airport, Herold's Bay, Victoria Bay and Wilderness, with the N2, the Outeniqua Pass and the R102. Every suburb and main road has been rated against SAPS data and local news and checked a second time. The Montagu Pass is marked closed until it reopens, so routes over the mountains use the Outeniqua Pass.

Routes now plan with live traffic
Fastest is now the quickest road right now, with its risk shown as always. Each route also shows how much slower than usual it is running.
How this page stays honest
Written once, in the app.
Updates are written in the app and copied here by a script. Nothing on this page is typed out separately, so it cannot drift from what the app itself tells you, and every entry here has shipped. Tsamaya updates over the air, so you get these changes without reinstalling anything.
